Remember Training Data with a microSD Card (Python)

Test the Training Program (Python)

Test the Script

This test is almost the same as the one you did in the previous lesson, but now you’ll add saving and loading with the MicroSD card. The key difference: your training won’t vanish when you turn off your cyber:bot.

Power-up the cyber:bot
Make sure that:

  • The cyber:bot has 5 AA batteries (either new alkaline or freshly recharged NiMH).

  • The battery barrel jack is plugged into the cyber:bot robot’s barrel plug.

  • The 3-position switch is in position 1 (the center position).

Train the HUSKYLENS

  1. Point the HUSKYLENS at a colored dot so it’s centered in the screen.

  2. Press A+B together (just like in the last lesson) to make it learn the color under the current ID.
→ You’ll see a labeled, color-coded bounding box appear, just like before.

  3. Use A to advance the ID (as you did in the previous lesson) and repeat with another color.

  4. Use B to go back if needed, exactly the same way as before.

Save your training to the MicroSD card

  • This is new: press Logo + A to save the current training data.

  • The display will show an arrow pointing up (north) to confirm saving.

Erase the training

  • Press the Logo touch (just like last time) to clear all the learned data.

  • All the bounding boxes and labels will disappear.

Reload from the MicroSD card

  • This is also new: press Logo + B to load the saved training.

  • The display will show an arrow pointing down (south).

  • The bounding boxes and labels should reappear exactly as before.

Now you’ve proven that your training survives a reset! If you power off your cyber:bot, then turn it back on and press Logo + B, your colors will come back without retraining.
