AIM Aviation uses the BASIC Stamp® modules to control cabin lighting in the first class sections of the Virgin Atlantic 747s and Airbus A340s. The application is called “Mood Lighting” and it involves the simulation of night and daytime lighting sequences to provide ambience for passenger relaxation.
AIM Aviation reports to Parallax that 60+ aircraft systems, each comprising over 30 BS2s, have been communicating in a networked style for a period over ten years. Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) is in excess of 500,000 Hours. A major contributory factor was our use of industrial temperature BS2s, alongside AIM’s electromagnetic and environmental susceptibility measures.
AIM Aviation is currently developing a radical new universal lighting controller around the Parallax BS2p40. The first application is a fleet-wide Airbus A380 (the double-decker) Emirates contract with a truly amazing AIM Aviation business Lounge and VIP lounge onboard. AIM's current needs are for an industrial-rated BS2p40, which became available with Rev C.
